Fair Oaks Design grew from a long-standing interest in vertical-axis wind turbines and the belief that small-scale wind power still has room for meaningful improvement. This site is a place to share what I have learned through research, design work, modeling, prototyping, testing, and plenty of trial and error. My goal is not to pretend that every question has been answered, but to present ideas clearly, encourage useful discussion, and help others better understand both the potential and the real challenges of vertical-axis wind energy. The products and projects shown here are an extension of that work. Some begin as practical tools, experimental components, models, artwork, or simply ideas worth exploring. Rather than forcing the work into a single category, I prefer to let worthwhile designs develop naturally and see where they lead. Fair Oaks Design is ultimately about curiosity, engineering, and sharing useful information—while creating a few interesting things along the way. Mike Fleury
