Taylor Hall was built in 1867 as part of Racine College, an Episcopal school founded along Lake Michigan in 1852. Its classrooms, laboratory and library helped make the college a respected center of learning under the leadership of the Reverend James DeKoven.

With its cream-colored brick, Gothic arches, clustered chimneys and commanding central tower, Taylor Hall is the most imposing building on the historic campus. Today it serves as the heart of the DeKoven Center, welcoming guests for retreats, conferences and community gatherings.
