SC Johnson Research Tower

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and opened in 1950, the 15-story Research Tower appears to rise from a single slender base. Its floors extend outward from a deeply anchored central “taproot,” making it one of the tallest cantilevered structures ever built.
The tower housed SC Johnson’s research laboratories for more than three decades. Within its remarkable glass-and-brick walls, scientists developed familiar products including Raid, Glade, OFF! and Pledge—making the building a Racine landmark of both architecture and invention.
